Young Actors Studio
ages 10 - 18
price: $0
Join us at our Young Actors Studio where you will be introduced to drama and acting in a fun, easy way! We focus on Shakespeare's plays and poems from the Renaissance time period (1450-1600) and students will memorize 1-3 pieces of their choosing, whether it be a scene, poem, or monologue. We welcome beginners and absolutely NO experience is required! Meetings take place from 6-8pm every Thursday. Classes are held at Martha Liebert Library, located at 124 Calle Malinche, Bernalillo, NM. We look forward to meeting your young actor!

About Us
We are a creative father-son team whose goal is to enrich the local community with classic theater and bring youth poetry back to life in New Mexico.
James has over twenty years of acting experience. He has been featured on America’s Most Wanted, as well as numerous independent feature films, shorts, and industrials. Additionally, he has leading roles in a wide variety of classical plays, including not only Shakespeare, but also Moliere, Homer, and Euripides.
His son, Joshua, has been in front of audiences since he was five years old. He has performed locally with the Cardboard Playhouse in lead roles during their summer productions of Finding Nemo Jr., Seussical Kids, and Willy Wonka Jr., among others, as well as a short film.
Both share an interest in poetry and classical literature and have been life-long fans of the creative arts. New Mexico is a significantly culturally rich area and we would love if you would join us our mission to bring back the spark of poetry to the Southwest!

About the Program
This program (the Young Renaissance Scholars) is being helmed by the Martha Liebert Library, thanks to a grant from the City of Bernalillo. This performance series will last two years, though individual commitments can be made.
The temporary goal is to nurture an appreciation and respect of Renaissance poetry performed in the traditional manner it was originally intended. The ultimate goal is to develop the students’ talents and abilities to where they can comfortably perform a full-length Shakespeare play in the future.
